Stem Cells and Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease

It has been a month since I left off on my discussion on why Rheumatoid Arthritis should be renamed as Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease and I apologize for that. Luckily, Tanya said I could take advantage of her RA Twist, so this is probably going to take a couple years to finish. Who knows, the world is supposed to end in December, so maybe it will never be completed. Anyway, when I left off I was tying RAD together with South Park. As I mentioned earlier in the article about why RA should be called RAD, Tanya and I had just …

An American\’s view of Barcelona – Street photography

Earlier this month I went to Barcelona, Spain to cover a trade show. In the past, Tanya would join me on my travels, be they be within the country or overseas. Unfortunately, her Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (RAD aka Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA) has made international travel a thing of the past for her. Hopefully she will find a good drug combination that will put her back into remission, but until that happens I will be doing most of my travels solo. Since Tanya is unable to travel with me and I take far too many photos for her to sit …

Networking at Noon at the Alpine Village

Today we met with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) again for another Networking at Noon; this time at the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village in Torrance, CA. It was a well attended event and we met a few new people that I am sure we will be seeing again. Tanya\’s company gave away a $500 gift certificate to one lucky winner, so I am positive we will be talking to her again. The food was very good. On the way out, I noticed they had a nice drought beer selection, so I have a feeling we will be …

Eating for better health

Okay, I know in my last RAD Caregiver post I said that my next article would be discussing stem cell research and Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease, but we recently started a group on Facebook, I Take Pictures of My Fruits and Vegetables Before I Juice Them, and we have had many people express interest in our new eating habits; in particular, what recipes we use. Well, the fact of the matter is that we do not have any recipes at all. However, we do have a lot of photos, so if you look at them you will see the recipe. I …

Torrance Fire Fighters Association 40th Annual Spaghetti Dinner

These photos were taken tonight at the 40th Annual Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the Alisa Ann Ruch California Burn Foundation which was sponsored by the Torrance Fire Fighters Association. The family friendly event was held at the Ken Miller Recreation Center in Torrance, CA. While I have lived in Torrance for more than 40 years and I had been aware of the event, it took joining the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce to get me to finally attend one. I have to admit, I had a good time and it looked like everyone else did as well. There were firefighters …

Experium Science Academy opens in Torrance

Today I headed to another ribbon cutting with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, this time for the Experium Science Academy. I have heard several people talk about Experium at various TACC events, so I was happy to learn about this event as I knew it would present plenty of nice photo opportunities. I was not disappointed. The Experium Science Academy is a hands on science laboratory for kids K-12, that specializes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I have to admit, I was impressed. I remembered back to when I was a young boy, I thought I was destined to …

Rock ‘n’ Roll Pasadena Half Marathon Photos

These photos were taken at the first annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Pasadena Half Marathon, which was held this morning in Pasadena, CA as a benefit to Cure Mito. Cure Mito is an organization supporting Mitochondrial Disease advocacy, awareness and research. As mitochondrial disorders affect primarily children and includes diseases such as RAD, it was pretty much a given that I was going to get up early to cover this event. The Rock \’n\’ Roll Marathon Series travels across the United States and parts of Europe, with each event supporting a different charity. The last event I attended in October raised …

Burzynski, South Park and RAD

Since I promised Tanya that I would write 365 blog posts that would help bring awareness of Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (RAD) and to help promote the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation I have been attempting to be a little more aware of things that happen in our daily lives so I can be a little more diverse in my writings. While it would certainly be quite cute if all I did was write about our daily lives and how much fun we have together, it would not really do much to educate people about RAD. Now, before I get started I want …

Photos from the PVP Chamber Evening Mixer

Tonight we headed up to the Rolling Hills Country Club to attend the PVP Chamber Regional Mixer. Being members of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) offers us the opportunity to network with business owners that are members of other chambers, so naturally we want to take advantage of the opportunities whenever they present themselves. Tonight\’s event included members of various South Bay chambers including Carson, El Segundo, Gardena Valley, Harbor City/Harbor Gateway, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, LAX Coastal Area, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Redondo Beach, San Pedro, Torrance and Wilmington. We had a great time, made …

Training baddog

Those that know me know that Harley-Davidson is one of my greatest passions. If I was put in the situation that I had to give up photography or motorcycles, I would have to drop the camera. It is my therapy, my release, my church. Living in Southern California gives me a riding season of 12 months so when I feel the need to get away from the hassles of everyday life, escape is as close as my garage. There are a couple days a year I like to go riding whether or not I \”feel the need\” based solely on …
